In today's digital age, the healthcare industry is experiencing a major shift towards digital transformation. Thanks to recent technologies and data-driven solutions, companies in this field are able to meet the evolving needs of patients more effectively. Whether its enabling personalized recommendations based on health data or creating digital tools that empower patients and their healthcare providers, Health Tech firms are at the forefront of shaping the future of healthcare.
With the support of Enterprise Singapore, Jonda Health had the opportunity to attend APAC’s most influential event for digital transformation in the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) that was held in sunny Bali, Indonesia from 26-29th of September, 2022.
The event brought together experts from across the region to represent the global health ecosystem – including healthcare decision makers, senior executives, providers, IT professionals, government officials, innovators, and pioneers in Asia Pacific with one main goal – to make healthcare more accessible to all and to improve quality of care, not only in Indonesia but also in countries around the region.
At HIMSS22, our team was exposed to an incredible wealth of knowledge and insight into the challenges and digital advances being made in the transformation of such a heavily regulated and complex industry. HIMSS22, gave startups like us at Jonda Health the incredible opportunity to connect and reimagine how better care, data and connectivity can pave the way for stronger and more resilient ecosystems to better support healthcare providers and patient outcomes, sustainably and efficiently–with privacy and security by default.
With the HIMSS22 conference in the books for this year, there were several important takeaways to take from this long-awaited event. This year's event was especially significant, as issues around data interoperability, data standardization and patient data privacy and security have taken on greater importance for healthcare organizations.
Given this context, here are three key takeaways from HIMSS22.
The ability to exchange data quickly and easily among systems will facilitate organized, effective decision making that's critical in the ever-changing world of healthcare. Data interoperability provides data unity, which is essential to manage and access information from external systems. Seamlessly connected information systems can result in better quality data with fewer errors. This is better than systems that are not interoperable and are more likely to contain duplicate and outdated data. Attendees at HIMSS22 demonstrated how data systems are advancing to become ever more interoperable, which is a key enabler to successful digital transformation.
The future of your organization can depend on the quality and consistency of data. Data standardization helps reduce challenges related to poor data quality, higher operational costs and misinformed decisions. By ensuring a uniform approach across all systems used, it will help to ensure accuracy throughout every level within an organization.
To meet the evolving needs of patients, one especially important topic that was discussed at this event was–data privacy and security. Healthcare organizations are constantly facing a challenge in maintaining data privacy and security. To gain trust and credibility, such organizations need to demonstrate that they have the right technology for protecting sensitive data, while also effectively communicating the steps they have taken to safeguard sensitive information. This will show commitment to protecting patient privacy and security.
The healthcare ecosystem continues to evolve every year, creating new opportunities and incredible innovative technologies. This was especially true at HIMSS22, where we’ve seen how digital health transformation can provide value along the continuum of care. What might next year have in store?
